I disagree with your philosophy [long] Posted by LIFETIMEOFSAABS [Email] (#2) [Profile/Gallery] (more from LIFETIMEOFSAABS) on Wed, 17 Nov 2010 15:57:00 In Reply to: Whale of a Tail, Saabnutt, Wed, 17 Nov 2010 10:36:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I sincerely disagree. 900Aero was happy to purchase the whale tail. If the piece was in as good condition as was represented, then this entire thread would not even exist. ... or better yet would be replaced with a picture of his new spoiler proudly mounted on his car ... something we ALL enjoy seeing and sharing.
There is nothing wrong with wanting something and buying it in a fair transaction. 900Aero just happened to want it the most and placed his bid accordingly after doing his due diligence and being directly informed of the item's condition by the seller. He would not have bid on it if the damage was honestly disclosed.
The issue is that the piece was not as described. Additionally, many fellow Saabers have had similar experiences, and worse, with this particular seller. That is the problem.
Many others with direct account buying from Gopher Auto Parts (myself included) have had poor experiences with him. These are the facts.
A good reputation was Adam Cimino's to earn or lose based on how he conducted his business.
His feedback is deteriorating - and it is probably only a short time before he is banned from eBay.
He could have had a good thing going but he himself RUINED it for himself by taking advantage of buyers.
I for one applaud 900Aero for buying what he wanted. He earned the money to do it, and it is his to spend how he pleases - even if it satisfies a material desire. Isn't everything a material desire in some way when you get beyond a pile of nuts, water, a warm fire and a cave?
Honestly, $700 is a lot of money for a whale tail. ... However if it was already painted in the color 900Aero needed and it was basically a bolt-on part, then I'd say he got a deal. He paid what he felt it was worth to him. That's the point behind the auction format. High-bidder wins.
And lastly, 900Aero is not suffering. He's pissed. He knows he'll get his money back. From the tone of his original posting he seemed almost amused at the idiocy of the seller and is doing the rest of the Saab community a service by flagging his buying experience FOR US.
Pink blanket man misrepresents his stuff all the time. Slapping some shoe polish on a set of seat covers and buffing them out only temporarily hides the imperfections .. it does not give just cause to note them as being in perfect condition. This spoiler is the same except that the seller photographed it in a way to make the damage hard to see and when he was asked about the item's condition, the seller stated that the piece was not damaged. That misrepresentation is fraud.
Yes ... caveat emptor, blah, blah, blah ..... it is threads like this that will help inform prospective buyers to walk ... or rather RUN AWAY from pinkies eBay auction sales (and any others like him).
For this very reason, this conversation is an important part of the Saab hobby and ownership community.
