The crank pulley (the big pulley on the bottom that drives all the accessories) is made of two pieces, separated by a rubber layer. An oil leak often will drip onto the crank pulley, deteriorating the rubber. Crank pulley failure is usually accompanied by a loud to very loud screatching sound for a few minutes after the car is started. I think whats happening is the outer portion of the pulley is rotating on the oily inner rubber section. I dont know why yours makes sound when turning heat on, possibly it is running the AC compressor which gives enough pull on the belt to make the crank pulley rotate on its rubber core. This is a common problem to any type of car, not just Saabs.
