Get a hose about a foot long, and connect it to the bleeder on the slave -- feed the hose down near the floor and contain what drains out of it. Put enough brake fluid in the reservoir, and open the bleeder leaving it to gravity drain overnight. Look at the reservoir and see if it when down, and then refill. Close the bleeder and give it a try. Use gravity as your friend in this case.
If that doesn't work, you might just bleed the system and see if it heals up from that procedure. The master might be gunked up with old funky fluid too.
