how's this for an idea to remove... do not use the bolt extractor, but use a regular smallish drill bit to make a shallow hole (if you have a 90* drill or want an excuse to buy one). find a l/h thread bolt (reverse from normal) that you could then thread in and use a wrench on?
the bolt will loosen the plug because as you tighten the bolt going in l/h direction the plug will unwind.
might that work to help get the old one out without possibly drilling through it? sorry, i know it doesn't help on the actually having a spare one in hand to screw in....
