Engine issue -tough start rain/cold AGAIN!?! Posted by gfreshski1 [Email] (#1116) [Profile/Gallery] (more from gfreshski1) on Sat, 2 Apr 2011 09:51:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I had to crank my Saab 2 dozen times, with my foot on the gas, before it would turn over (usually starts on first try) and then it ran like a 30's dump truck. 3 minutes after turning over, engine sprang to life.
I posted about a month ago about my engine stalling, and having problems restarting. Just as before, IT WAS COLD AND RAINING. Is this just a coincidence?
As I drove, I tried to get the turbo into the red, hesitation ensued. Filled the tank with 93 octane,it ran fine. Then, the fuel tank gauge sputtered and died this morning.
I should also mention that I got my heater fixed 2 months back. It was bypassed when I bought it, but I was living in Southern California so I never bothered fixing it. But I moved back to New York last summer, so I needed the heat.
What is going on? Does this sound like a weather related issue? Might it be the fuel pump in the tank going bad? Could the heater/core have an effect on this? I'm guessing its the smaller pump going bad, but then why would my fuel gauge die? Also, why did this happen only when it was cold AND raining?
Also, my anti-lock brake light turns on when I turn the front wheel or pull off after starting. Might this be a sensor? (I heard about the sensors getting dirty sometimes)
Any thoughts or feedback appreciated.
