I have 5, including two Saabs, a '90 SPG and '89 Turbo.
I live in Madison and my solution is to store them in heated, underground parking. One of my VWs has to stay outside because I haven't rented enough spaces at my building.
Insurance is cheap here in Wisconsin, even on my newer cars, and I can qualify for the collector plates, which I'm going to get this year, at least on the SPG. It's only a few hundred $ and your car is registered forever!
I walk most places so not having a garage to work on the cars has been ok since I'm not putting many miles on them, but I'm planning to buy or rent garage space this summer. I spent many thousands restoring these cars before I brought them to Madison so everything is in pretty good shape, and they don't go out in the winter. I did spend a lot of time using the '89 as a daily driver last year when I had some traveling to do (some trips over 1,000 miles) and was surprised at how reliable these old cars are for daily use. Looking around on the interstate highways it seemed I was always driving the oldest car!
