Trekked into Seattle to get a used relay from ScanWest. They not only gave me one for a decent price, but threw in a second for no extra charge. Thanks, guys!

Got back, checked the wiring under the fuse panel; nothing obviously burned. Added a 20A fuse on the power switch, taped up any exposed metal, replaced the relay, re-attached the battery terminal and... nothing. :( Swapped out the second replacement relay just in case the first happened to be bad, but no. So now I guess I have to trace the wiring down a lot more carefully. I wonder if I should borrow a continuity tester (and a decent multimeter) from someone in our local amateur radio club (yes, I'm a ham).

Bleah. But hey, at least working on the car keeps me out of the pool halls... :)
