I would say the hardest part is getting the assembly out and back in. If he can't get the spacer in (due to bad hydraulics) then it becomes even harder.

TBA, I wouldn't tackle a clutch on c900 as a starter DIY job on a c900. I would rate it as more of an intermiate job despite what a lot of others think. I'm not saying a beginner can't do it- just that they will likely encounter a few "WTF" moments.
