Just want to say thanks to all your posts here I felt comfortable enough to begin my Midlife Crisis by buying a 1991 Turbo Convertible for summer use. Shiny black with tan leather and cutest little tool kit, no rust. List of projects: 1. Get handbrake adjusted so it does not pull as high which gives poor leverage and caused me to a. almost roll into a parked motorcycle while putting on the new plates and b. roll down my driveway into a construction mess (no damage...whew!). 2. Glue separated lower vert-top cloth strip on rear glass to stop leak. 3. Weld clamped muffler. 4. Replace wire cables in twisting electric seats. 5. Repair electric mirror switches which do not allow adjustment in upward direction... I better get a Bentley. Turbo boost only goes half through yellow but I don't necessarily want to thrash my 5 speed which was recently replaced by former owner.
Man I love this car and I am determined to keep it as a summer classic. Feels a lot like my former 1981 VW rabbit convertible (which, alas, I had let go when second baby arrived in 2003) but is definitely more refined and on steroids. And quirky as all get go.
PS: 1. Front suspension gives a clunk when I back up over the slight transition between my driveway and the road with the wheels turned in. 2. Temperature seems to take an awful long time to get to operating temperature - maybe needs new thermostat.
Thanks for all your awesome posts.
