I had a similar problem and it turned out to be a bad alternator, probably the regulator. I had a good spare alternator so just put it on.
However a bad battery can give you almost identical symptoms. Auto parts chain stores usually offer free battery testing w/accurate diagnostic equipment. Take it in fully charged and they will test it while you wait. Otherwise you may have to leave it while they charge it.
Are your battery terminals and cables in good shape? Check the ground just to make sure. The fact that it happens after things heat up makes one think that it's a connection, but I really doubt it. However, I'd check anyway. I seem to learn something new everyday if I just take time to look and listen.
