I had an intermittant hard start problem on my 90 SPG that plagued me for months. It turned out it was a bad connection on the side of the distributor where the wires plug in for the Hall sensor. Someone had repair frayed wires there before and did a sloppy job. I re-did it and haven't had a problem since.
Another possibility that I was considering for my car is the check valve in the fuel pump. It's supposed to hold system pressure even after you shut the engine off. If that valve is bad or you have some other fuel system leak, it will bleed off the pressure over night and cause hard starting the next morning. Short interval restarts don't give it enough time to bleed off, so it start ok the rest of the day. Just some thoughts.
