Totally disagree with Glen On Saabstuff Appearance Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Fri, 2 Nov 2012 07:07:22 In Reply to: Re: Seat cover for Saab 900S, Glen, Thu, 1 Nov 2012 14:37:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Saabstuff's seat skins are pricey, and it takes several months to get them delivered, but I am very pleased with my purchase. The skins and some extra leather to do the tops of the door panels cost me $1,850. I got custom color-matched leather dye for the door panels from Leather World Technology in Roanoke, VA for about $100 and applied it with an air brush. bring the cost of the new interior shown below to about two grand. I am going to order some black leather that matches the piping I ordered to replace the purple fabric shortly.
However, IMHO they do not have "a fake look like covers". These are very high quality duplicate of original upholstery. The quality of the leather is very high - Don will send you swatches if you like. How they look once installed is largely a function of how good the installer is.
I installed these myself and I think the fit is very good for my first crack at it. You learn how to get the fit right/fit them better as you go through the process.. This spring when the weather is nicer, I am going tweak the installation a bit to smooth out some of the wrinkles by adding some addition hooks and some sheet foam to the head rests. I was in a hurry to get this done to drive the car in my kid's Homecoming parade or I'd have taken more than the hour or so it took per seat to put the skins on.
It is a very doable and satisfying project if you really love your car and plan to keep it. There's another vendor for duplicate of original upholstery that sells skins in both leather and vinyl, that you can easily find by googling (their prices are lower but I can't tell you anything about the quality). They are mentioned in this forum a lot for their replacement carpets, which I bought and was not thrilled with, But I think the Saabstuff seat skins are well worth the money, and the wait!
