About southern Saab ownership. I have many more stories after living there for decades:
I go to the parts store in Dallas looking for something simple like a thermostat and I tell the parts guy it is a Saab. He said, "what?" so I repeated it and he mouthed slowly back, "you mean SU BA ROO" and after repeating this again I asked him to turn the monitor toward me so I could help him look up the part. He had never heard of a "Saab" and never bothered to notice it in his pick list!
So I go for an emissions inspection and the guy there tells me that the car is most certainly not a 4 cylinder as I described, but a V8. He argues with me, telling me that there's no way that "huge" engine is a 4. I told him to count the plug wires. He was finally convinced but still confused until I told him that the transmission is actually under the engine.
Easy solution if you really want to own a Saab: move north like I did!
