The bolt came out easily enough. Yay!
When I bought two new 8x1.25 replacement bolts, I discovered that the old bolts were between 35mm & 40mm long. I figgerd the originals were probably 35mm long & had stretched, but I bought two of each length & fit them into the holes to check for depth. I could use a 40mm on the upper hole (extra thickness of the A/C bracket), but not on the lower hole, so I'll use 35mm on both. (10.9 Grade, similar to Grade 8.)
I also thought about cutting a bolt clearance slot into the alternator bracket's lower mounting hole/boss, so that it's easily removed w/o having to completely unscrew the lower bolt. But the aluminum seems pretty soft, so I decided to leave the boss intact. I did grind the lower lip of the bracket down a bit to give it more clearance should a similar bolt break occur in the future.
