by passing them by wiring the two wires together and have had no problems with instrument lights since. The one in the instrument panel is a pain but the other one on the fascia was easy. Also switched to green 6 LED's and the light is much brighter and looks great. I think there is a picture in my gallery. That fascia rheostat was literally just spinning in place.
