Which panel? I think there are T10 screws that go through the panel into the metal strip. But, I may be missing your point.
A recipe I've used for repairing the plastic portion of the panel is to freeze a scrap panel and grind it into almost a dust. (Don't tell my wife I used the food processor) Prepare your mating pieces or whatever you are trying to bond together by cleaning with some solvent. Then, mix the grey dust with Testors model glue and make a paste and quickly apply it to the areas that you are repairing. Then I take an aluminum mesh ( Hobby Lobby has it ) and form it to the area that is being repaired and slather the mesh with the grey paste......better wear gloves. I'll drizzle straight Testors on the joint as well during this. Then, point a light at it and don't breathe too deep nearby.
