Justin and the others have made excellent points relative to the installation of the 2.1 liter engine into the 1989 900.
The original engine in the 1989 900S should be the B202 and SAAB employed this with a very high Nickel content(hard wearing and capable of unlimited use). We have always found the 2.1 liter engines to have much less Nickel and are always subject to problems related to cylinder bore wear, cylinder head gasket issues, etc.
We have customers who have gone over 1 Million miles on the B202 engine and only half that on the B212.
