I would suggest you go to the Detailing BB here on Saabnet -- I bet you have have the dull paint buffed out to make a remarkable change. What color is it? We just finished buffing out a cherry red car that shines and shows very well in comparison to the dull finish it had.
Be careful if you try it yourself as you can damage it beyond bringing it back with the right combination of compound, buffer type, speed, even outside temperature. Or just take it to a detailing shop and see what they say.
When the paint gun comes out, you would think that you were being robbed for what is charged these days.
