$2-3k is a lot for a 8 valve n/a automatic... Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Tue, 22 Oct 2013 12:30:24 In Reply to: It could bring..., No Snaab, Tue, 22 Oct 2013 09:45:19 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
it would have to be really pristine otherwise and have some sort of characteristics to attract a buyer, because that engine/tranny combo is not exactly a rocket, nor is the tranny very robust or economical... low miles is great, that helps for sure... but if it has a couple of small rust spots you can see, I bet there is more! Rust is awful - it's always a tip of the iceberg thing... so depressing to have to fix rust! I have a 1993 with 110k, good cosmetics, and almost no rust (here in the snow belt) and I wouldn't expect to get much more than $1k for the car so I'm keeping it!
But to the point - don't paint over original Saab paint, and especially do not strip original saab paint. You will never get that good of a paint job again (unless perhaps you go to the extent that Jon has, but that is not a low budget endeavour!)... Saab factory paint was really really really good! Aftermarket is generally terrible in comparison. Stripping saab paint is like asking for rust! Just por and touch up the rust areas. Don't paint the whole car unless you go all out like Jon... imho... certainly not a good strategy to sell...
