I pulled the engine and automatic transmission out this summer to replace the seal because I was loosing almost a quart of oil a week. The leak had slowly been getting worse. I believe that air blowing around inside the engine compartment throws the oil in confusing directions because it looked like it was leaking in the area where the engine and transmission goes together and I figured the oil would only blow backward from the front. The engine was hard for me to pull because I hadn't done it before, and getting the engine and transmission separated was very difficult. When it was out I couldn't see any oil leaking from the seal but I replaced it anyway since it was out. What I did find after I had cleaned the engine and transmission and put it back in was that oil was leaking out of the oil pressure sensor. The engine was so dirty before I couldn't see it. I changed the oil pressure sensor and my leak has stopped. If you are lucky it could be your oil pressure sensor!
