I agree, that is surprising how little of the electrical system was problematic in that situation...
that said, ee101: mechanical connections are the root of all evil. Sometimes I wish car electrical systems were wired together with soldered joints between modules... (indeed, another mechanical connection, but a better one than most connectors)
In our 1989, saab has numbered the larger connectors, but they do not number the small single wire spade connectors that are seemingly everywhere. I had a number of these left over that I had wished I had photographed during the disassembly. Circuit diagrams are in the Bentley, but one has to guess to which circuit they might belong and then look at that diagram and trace to confirm. A very slow way to do it! All the larger connectors with labeling would be easy to figure out where they go anyway... though, I was thankful for the Swedish "left and rights" written on the power window switches in the center console!
My winter beater (now back together) suffers from the e-brake light perpetually on. I suspect I may have damaged a connection to the switch while reinstalling the center console etc - the wires were coming off it at a rather sharp angle! I'm not sure I will bother to fix this though... at least not while it is still freezing cold out (ie for another 6 months).
