Steering rack leaking into tie rod boot - options? Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Tue, 22 Apr 2014 07:26:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My driver's side steering rack boot is full of fluid. Before I go through the agony of replacing the entire rack,I have a question.
I noticed on Eeuroparts that they sell the inner tie rod ends. Has anyone ever replaced just this part and cured such a problem? Can it be done with the rack in the car?
How about Power steering sealers for a leak such as this - it seems to be a very slow accumulation of fluid (added about half a reservoir only once in 6 months of driving, but that is definitely where the fluid is leaking. No drivability issues at this point.
I've got a know good rack in my parts collection from vert I wrecked last fall that is only about a year old (Maval rebuilt). Just would rather not fool with swapping the whole thing right now.
