Didn't drive it far, though! I'm assuming you mean the rearmost arms that control axle windup on the torsion-beam rear axle. With these gone the axle will stay in place but the wheels will flop around back and forth since the axle basically works like a torsion bar. I found that the main problem was some wheel tramp when stopping and on rough surfaces. Other than that there was (surprisingly) no noticeable difference in handling.
Not that I would recommend driving a 900 this way for any length of time. If nothing else a panic stop would probably produce some "interesting" results. If it is not feasible to weld up the damaged area it's probably time to part the car out.
