I agree you ma be better off with a used unit. I replaced mine with a used unit and it has lasted more than five years. The stories of how crappy the Scantech units are is practically legend.

I have seen 2 unused heater valves this year appear (bought one of them). I got mine for a steal ($39), the other sold for about $80. I trolled for it daily until it appeared - set up a dedicated search. I search for unobtainable parts every morning as I drink my first cup of coffee at work and at lunch time (during conference calls, etc.). Best way to score rare parts.

You have to look at the entire ad. The reason I got mine so cheap was because the person selling it did not know how rare it was and did not mention that it was OEM, new, unused, or include a picture of the box in the primary picture. When I opened it up and read what it actually was I bookmarked it and bought it at the last minute - I was the only bidder.
