When I say "all the way", I am speaking figuratively. It closes to the limit of its travel, and yes, the engine is managed by LH 2.4.
I am simply mystified by how one day it behaves normally, as it has for the ten years I have owned it, to suddenly going absolutely offline and swinging from one end of its range to the other, with no signs of it finding a happy medium. It's almost as if the ECM no longer sees an rpm signal, but even when the IAC is disconnected, the engine runs great. I do have to babysit the throttle on cold starts, but once it goes closed loop, the engine idles fine. Fuel mileage has not suffered. On/off throttle transitions have become choppy though, so I have to be careful not to let the throttle plate close abruptly. I feel the IAC softens the blow in those instances, because it would serve as a "dashpot", which anyone driving a mid to late eighties Saab should remember.
