Simulate what you did when swapping distributors (let the car sit for a while) and you might find it starts up just fine without swapping distributors. But the same symptoms occur under load. Suggesting it is something else other than the dizzy/connections. I had/have similar symtoms happening to my '88 SPG last Fall. She is a garage queen so I haven't dug into the problem yet. My symptoms were missing upon acceleration once the car warmed up. I noticed the fuel tank was just under a quarter full. Made it down the road to a gas station and filled it up. The missing went away. Suggesting that it is probably the fuel (pre) pump. Can't wait till Spring to do some further eval.
