Just prior to pulling my 1990 900Turbo off the road for a head gasket job, I was having a pulsing light problem very similar to this guy's truck:

The same amplitude and frequency, only mine keeps doing this not just at idle or while parked, but under way too. (maybe slightly slower while under way) A load on the electrical system actually stabilizes it more.

I have an analog voltmeter installed in it, and it typically would bounce between 12 -16 volts. Dunno if this was simply because of hysteris in the gauge, or if it was actually bouncing that much.

Anyways, I figure I should pull the alternator out while I have the intake off the car. I'm just wondering though, before I go out and blow $150 or so for a new alternator if this isn't an "external" problem, like a bad ground or iffy connection or something that would cause this..
