Look at the tag on the top of the primary gear housing. It will begin with "GM" and have some numbers following it. The page that's linked below has a key to deciphering the GM (meaning "gearbox, manual") numbers.
Assuming that the transmission is the original and isn't a melange of different transmission parts, not having a long dipstick, only that useless 19-mm bolt with a tiny unreadable dipstick, is consistent with the '90 model year. Having a drain plug on the bottom of the differential housing is typical for '90 transmissions.
Transmissions from the '89 model years onwards have the large pinion bearing. CMyles said that his experience is that the large pinion bearing doesn't make that much difference in the longevity.
