Dealing with a door hinge pin Posted by CBS [Email] (#969) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CBS) on Wed, 17 Jun 2015 13:11:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
This is a ~ 2" steel pin that engages a small "gear" that holds the door open in the fully open position. '88 SPG had this drop out a couple years ago. The dealer actually had a replacement pin and I did my best to seat it using a long screw driver and a maul to pound it in the hole from below. I knew I didn't get it all the way up there (the angle and access were not optimal), but it did last a year.
Now it's dropped out again and am wondering if others have managed somehow to seat this pin properly. **I'm hoping it doesn't involve removing the door** so one can get better access in order to drive the pin home. For now, I'm just dealing with a free swinging drivers door.
