The squirrel cage shaft terminates in a threaded nut or a spring clip to keep the cage on the shaft. I think there are 2 threaded shaft types. There is an early 80's one that you rarely see. All should fit in the dash. The last couple years in the 90's the plug is different. Those cars came with the the same wiring harness but there is a short 2-wire jumper to convert the body harness to the later motor plug. Darn it Simon, I thot you were going to go off on a detailed method of installing the heater motor in a 1989 9000. I need to get my '89' 9000S back on the road and it needs a heater motor.
