First - there was no adhesive used in the original installation, as the strips were held on by spring clips on the back side strip ends. But - I will suggest you replace old strips with readily available Peel-N-Stick chrome 1/2" wide, cut to length. To remove any old adhesive, I would sit down with each bumper extension , a 1/2" wood chisel, and a hammer and CAREFULLY remove any roughness/adhesive. And I'd do the bumpers, too. That's what I did on the pictured car a month ago. Just my $ .02 worth. Total cost? Under $15, plus tools. Vern
