hey Bob. I believe it is a mechanical noise. it happens under load, it does not seem to effect boost . I tested my knock sensor and it was fine . So with apc connected boost should be lowered if it were knock or detonation right?. I checked plugs and all looked fine. I took off the valve cover and all lifters appear to be getting proper lube. i did measure my timing chain tensioner and it was at 12mm but i am not getting any timing noise at idle. could this be a worn chain issue under load?. timing is set at 16 . my cam marks were very slightly off. and there was some up and down movement in the chain between cams. I just ordered a new timing chain and tensioner from eeuro.
