Do you feel feedback in the steering wheel when you hit the bump, an abnormal amount of free play, or some instant feel in the steering wheel that it is suspension related? How do the upper A arm bushings look? I've been in a car that clunked and it was the right side front upper A arm bushing was completely absent.
I about drove myself crazy ( well in my case it would crazier as I'm already nuts ) trying to find a faint knocking that would come and go. It was the inner steering rod that goes from the steering rack outboard to the ball joint. Replaced it and voila, case closed. The reason it wasn't suspect is that the steering rack had been rebuilt so surely they would have put NEW rod in the rack. NOT NEW. So, now when I send out a rack I strip the rack of the rods and the bellows so I know they are going to have to put new parts back on.
If you don't feel it in the steering wheel, I might be looking for exhaust issues, like the trans mount that has a u bolt over the downpipe.
Or, it might be something as simple as the horn fell off the mount and is clunking around inside the engine bay, or the windscreen washer bottle bracket came off.
