Well, Frank I think you found the answer. Its a brick clunking around up in the front hanging on the skidplate.
We've been replacing bricks in our historic areas that were patched with black composite goo back in the 60s. It's really expensive, so only certain areas are addressed that have used grant money or someone donates a chunk.
They excavate the entire street, pile up the bricks, stabilize the underlayment, and then reset the bricks. Takes quite a while, but it looks great when it's complete.
I like the patter of the tires on the brick, it must be the DNA of Indy 500 racing that comes from uncle who worked for Louie Meyer......
