A quick and simple check is to get in on the passenger side and crank the engine. Place your ear down by the passenger side firewall near the door hinge. When you crank the car, you should hear a click from the fuel pump relay, and another click when you stop cranking about a second or so after. This will tell you if the ECM is switching on the fuel pump.
You can test for ignition system operation by pouring a tiny bit of gasoline (like a tablespoon or so) into the intake manifold. Pull one of the vacuum hose grommets out, pour the fuel in, wait a few seconds and then attempt to start it. If the engine fires up or shutters for a short moment (usually a second or so) This means the ignition system is fully operational.
Another check you can do is to connect a voltmeter or a test light up to one of the fuel injector connectors. Pop the hood, and take a connector off of one of the fuel injectors. Insert a test lamp or your volt meter. While you are cranking the engine, the light or voltmeter should flash or pulse. This confirms the ECM is good.
Last check, you will need a person to help you. Take the floor out of the trunk, and you will see two covers on the floor between the two wheel wells. The larger one goes to the fuel pump. Disconnect the electrical cable to it, and get a volt meter or test lamp again. Place the voltmeter or test lamp's leads in the fuel pump connector and crank the engine. You will need a second person to watch for results, while the other person cranks. If the indicator lights or the volt meter reads power, most likely, you have a bad fuel pump. If not, check your fuel pump relay and associated wiring between the two .
