I also owned a 92 900S up until 2007. My turn signal switch would not stay up or down without holding it in place. I recall disassembling the unit and finding that the detents were worn away and the stalk had nothing to "park" in, so I had to hold it there.

I renewed the detents, or depressions, in the soft aluminum with a small round file, lubed and reassembled it. The end of the stalk now found enough resistance in the renewed detent and was like new. It has been some ten years now, I don't recall removing the steering wheel and airbag, I think the switch was made in two parts and two screws held it together laterally on the steering column. May have found that procedure on this board.
