Things I've had happen on longish trips in my C900s over the years:
Fuel pump fail. (Had a spare)
Ignition switch fail. (Jerry-rigged a universal one)
Throttle cable break. ("Fixed" with a shoelace)
Muffler and tailpipe rotted off. (Wired it up but it was a loud trip!)
Catalytic converter rotted off head pipe. (Ditto)
Oil pressure sender leaked. (Replaced with a Ford/Edsel part)
Clutch line blew out (limped home using clutch-free shifting)
Check as much out beforehand as possible. Belts, hoses, water pump, exhaust, CV joint boots, etc. Carry tools as well as spares for parts likely to fail. (Murphy sez if it's going to fail it will do so on the road!) Change out anything at the end of its useful life before starting on the trip. AAA is also a good idea, just in case.
