The loosey goosey arm I mentioned is Item 19 in the diagram above. It is sort of a ball mount kind of thing that mounts on the back of the lock. When the lock is turned by the key, it rotates into different positions. In my case, the Item 19 socket is somewhat loose on the lock mechanism ball. Maybe that's normal. Maybe it's ready to let go. Not sure. Again, I can't tell exactly how Item 19 affects the mechanism.
The car held a charge overnight yesterday. And I drove to Burlington (the big city) for dinner with a couple of my kids yesterday. (PS, my daughter is mad because a Saab 900 vert is her DREAM car) It also started fine this morning. I checked the trunk several times and it appears to lock and unlock manually just fine.
I'm going to move forward with the lock actuator disconnected electrically and hope for the best. And thanks to jimmy and Roger D, I know can open the lock through the license plate light hole if it gets stuck again.
