The spare transmission and engine/transmission probably don't need much in the way of special preservation. You could drop oil into them but after awhile the oil will settle and until you rotate the engine and drivetrain that lubricant is just a big puddle in the unit bottoms. The oil doesn't normally completely submerge the gear assembly.
I've pulled apart engines and transmissions drained long prior that had retained sufficient residual lubricant to keep everything looking very good; no rust or corrosion was to be found. SC can indeed be hot and humid but if the normal pieces/covers remain installed on the units, you should be fine. Especially if they're clear of splashing or accumulating water.
If it were me, I'd put them on a dolly after maybe wrapping them in a tarp and then keeping them inside someplace free from waterfalls and incoming artillery.
