Car is a 1993 900TC, 130K miles.

Has always passed emissions easily but failed on an EVAP leak, which the tech said was slight and it was very close to passing.

He did have a clamp on one of the lines in the wheel well. I am assuming to isolate the canister. He has done this car before a couple of times.

I have never looked at the system at all before but as with everything else C900 I figured there were some usual suspects.

A couple of hints were that after gassing up I can sometimes smell fuel in the trunk area. Looked all over for a leak and never found one. This has been going on for years and always passed before.

Probably more significant is that the fuel pump was changed last year. I thought the lock ring was plenty tight but obviously a prime suspect.

Other than checking lines carefully is there anything else I should look at?
