N.L.B is spot on, cracks come with a Saab dash. Drilling a hole will work, but the hole has to be at least twice the width of the crack. Now you have to repair the crack7 hole. I've been using a product ($10.00) called 3M Vinyl Repair Kit. It comes with about 10 colors of filler, a tool to apply heat, and some vinyl patches of cloth for texture.
There is also a company that sells injected molded shells for the Saab 900. There is a difference between convertible and hatchback dash caps. It comes with the adhesive glue and instructions. Where and how much adhesive you apply is critical. Let me know if you are interested and I'll send you the ordering information. They sell for approx. $125.00 prepaid. Seller is on E-Bay. I notice another company selling, what seems to be the same dash for $250.00-$300.00. Not sure what the difference is.
Good Luck
