There's a little plastic piece in the back that trips the switch off. Couple of little springs to help the plastic piece stay centered. Might try to use electrical cleaner and spray the snot out of it. One of the springs may have broken or come off the retaining clip or plastic piece may have broken. Easy way to check is remove the switch (not the easy part) and put the stalk in the turn position and flip the plastic piece in opposite direction to see if it's tripping the switch. If you use the electrical cleaner use a little lube to keep the moving pieces from binding up.
