Was many years ago but MTL I believe. As a motorsports enthusiast, I wanted the best for my fresh Getrag 235/5 CR 5-speed so used Redline. Maybe it was totally unrelated but I had been driving it for quite sometime as a daily driver without any problems. Once the fluid was serviced with Redline, it started to get difficult to shift and when checking the oil, brass filings were found so I pulled the trans before it cratered.
FWIW3, Redline does have a specific Honda compatible MTF version which is 100% Synthetic and a lower viscosity than the more common Redline MTF.
An interesting analysis is found here: https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/honda-mtf-vs-redline.215183/. Note the zinc content.
I'm sticking with the Honda MTF until it is no longer available. Relatively inexpensive and easy to find at any Honda dealer and on-line.
