Hi Bob,
Thanks for responding.
I haven't done a thing to further troubleshoot or fix at this point. Here's the complete symptom picture.
1. I changed the trans fluid a couple of years ago, using Honda MTL as a replacement. Shifting was noticeably smoother. This was simply general maintenance.
2. The shifter bounces fore and aft when driving in 5th gear. Most likely a motor mount (see other post) and that may contribute to the shifting issue.
3. Sometimes it slips into reverse fully. Other times it won't and I have to select another gear first. Then back to reverse and it slips in. I attribute that to alignment.
4. Sometimes it WILL slip out of reverse as I let out the clutch, even though it felt like it went into reverse fully.
5. There is some play and slop in the shifting mechanism, which I attribute to 140,000 miles plus. It feels TIGHT compared to my Sonett, which feels like a fork in a bowl of spaghetti!
So I'm planning on replacing motor mounts and doing the reverse fix I mentioned before, which probably isn't a bad idea anyway.
Tell me more about this rubber isolator joint! Exactly where is it? If it's bad, where would I get a new one?
Thank you!
