I'd forgotten what a PITA the front seat twisting thing was. I made up new tubes from had plastic hose. It was a lot of work pulling it all apart. Mine also a 1993.

Its pretty easy to pull the old seat out and just try the new one if you have it all back together. I don't think you need to bolt it in place.

I thought the seat back latch release was independent of the power but not certain. Something line bike brake cable line and tube may be pretty good to replace it with all the work you are putting in.
