I can confirm that there are (at least) two different AC brackets made by Saab - and apparently used in cars of different vintage and/or compressor from the factory. I replaced the factory-original Seiko-Seiki compressor in my 1994 convertible a few years ago. A rebuilt Seiko-Seiki did not fit right with the original bracket in car. This time the fitment issue was with compressor being to far to the direction, where it laid against the mounting bracket - so longer bolts and washers were a no-go. And yes, this has to do with a different "thickness" of compressor clutch as both compressors had single belt pulleys.
I sourced a bracket from a 1989 model year 900 and it was a perfect match with the AC compressor I had.
I am now in a process of retrofitting a factory-new Sanden compressor into a 1993 900. I have a new mounting bracket from Saab original AC retrofit kit. Plus the leftover bracket from my 1994. Have yet to check if these two are the same and if I am again destined to source an older bracket from somewhere... Will report here how it turns out.
