The gearbox that locked up and skidded to a stop may be beyond salvaging. If it did that due to lack of oil then it locked up because gears and bushings burned and seized (think welded) onto the mainshaft and that makes disassembly very, very difficult and requires slashing and hacking and any still intact gears are heat damaged anyway.

If it was full of good oil and seized up because the pinion bearings were overdue for replacement there will be broken gears but maybe some useful parts remaining (maybe). In either case the cost of the freight will probably exceed the value of the trashed transmission.
