Definitely get the exhaust first. The exhaust will provide better
'living' conditions for the engine, in general. Those conditions become
more harsh with higher boost, and this is why many feel that the larger
exhaust is really a prerequisite for any software change. You will notice a performance increase with just a freer flowing exhaust, as the stock
exhaust is quite restrictive. The intake can also be made less restrictive
and this will also offer an inexpensive increase in performance. By
removing the snorkel on the air filter housing and adding a few more
holes (refer to past threads from Karl on this) will remove a lot of
the intake restriction. The Maptun exhaust is a JT, which can be
had at other vendors in Sweden. The most important piece, in terms of
reducing restriction, is the downpipe and the cat'. The downpipe
will probably set you back 200 quid. A 3" cat' can be had for as little
as 70 quid, here in the 'states - don't know what they get for them in
the UK.
