...Seems the water pump bearings started to fail, sent water all over the belts, which promptly slipped off their wheels, causing overheating...blah blah, can't remember the rest of the bull. All happened in about 10 secs at 80mph 'til he pulled over. Not sure how a car can overheat in 10 secs, but you may prove me wrong.
Anyway, upshot is that Warranty Holdings wil do the water pump, but not the "consequential damage" - and I won't frighten you with how much it costs to get two heads removed and skimmed, pressure tested and reinstalled on a 4.4l BM V8. Needless to say, labour is over £1000 pounds, and car is out for 3 weeks or so.
Ho hum - not what you need to hear.
