Well, I am a business lawyer, but I cannot give you legal advice which would be helpful at this point. Since warranty and consumer protection laws vary so much by state, the best advice I can give is to go speak with an attorney in your area.
That said, I would not be completely discouraged. First, with respect to the facts, someone appears to be assuming that the belt breaking caused engine failure, rather than engine (or accessory) failure seizing something which fried the belt. Don't accept the dealership's theory on causation. Perhaps you might think of hiring a friendly mechanic to look the car over for other theories of causation. Furthermore, if you can at least create some legitimate issue of causation, that will immediately and significantly increase your bargaining power with the warranty company.
Good luck.
